Blu Boys clinch World Cup berth, bag bronze in Asia Cup

The Philippine men's softball team is heading to the 2025 Men's Softball World Cup after earning a bronze medal in the recently-concluded Men's Softball Asia Cup 2023 on Wednesday in Kochi, Japan.

The Blu Boys defeated Hong Kong in the battle for third with a stellar 7-0 rout to claim the last World Cup slot alongside host and gold medalist Japan and runner-up Hong Kong.

Prior to the bronze medal clash, the Philippines wrapped up the preliminaries with a 3-2 win-loss card, defeating India, Chinese Taipei, and Hong Kong but bowing to Singapore and Japan.

The Blu Boys are the fourth national softball team to earn a World Cup spot after the Blu Girls, women's Under-15 team, and co-ed slow pitch squad booked their tickets this year as well.
