New face of Team Lakay? Jhanlo Sangiao says: I just want to show what I can do
Mixed martial arts prospect Jhanlo Sangiao is hard at work ahead of his next fight against Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu at ONE Fight Night 13 on August 5 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.
The 21-year-old son of Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao is unbeaten as a professional mixed martial artist having won all of his six fights by either stoppage or submission.
"I am just training and enjoying this. I want to show what I can do inside the circle. That is my only goal," Sangiao said.
"If they say I am the new face of Team Lakay, I'd thank them. But I've been working hard on all of this."
The young Sangiao was the first Filipino in ONE Championship to earn himself a $50,000 performance bonus when he submitted Anacleto Lauron in the opening round last December.
Four months later, Sangiao got himself another bonus when he won via submission yet again against Matias Farinelli. According to his father, Sangiao is religiously grinding in the gym all the time.
"Our next generation of Team Lakay fighters are doing okay for the most part," said Mark Sangiao.
"I can see them working hard and they’re doing their training every day. That’s just how I see it. They train hard and the attendance has been solid."
