Reigning champion Lyceum leads CCC final four cast with Arellano, Benilde, JRU
Defending champion Lyceum of the Philippines is on track for another title as it headlined the semifinal cast of the Collegiate Center Championship (CCC) Season 3 under its mother organization Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE).
The Pirates, seeking to bag their third straight championship, imposed their will during the elimination round after finishing with a 7-1 win-loss card before sweeping University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in the upper bracket playoffs, 2-0.
Lyceum leads other semifinalists Jose Rizal University, Arellano University, and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in the Final Four.
JRU had a similar 7-1 slate at the end of the elimination phase and needed three games to dispose of San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 2-1, in the other upper bracket playoffs.
Arellano and Benilde, on the other hand, swept Emilio Aguinaldo College and Mapua University, respectively, in the lower bracket playoffs. The Chiefs then pulled off a 2-1 victory against the ALTAs while the Blazers eked out a 2-1 win against the Stags as the two schools moved forward to the semis.
Lyceum and JRU will duke it out in the upper bracket while Benilde and Arellano will slug it out in the lower bracket. The semis and grand finals are slated on August 19 and 20, respectively.
San Beda and Season 2 runner-up Letran were eliminated as early as the elimination round after finishing at 9th and 10th place, respectively.
