EJ Obiena cops second straight gold medal in Germany

Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena sustained his winning form as he bagged his second consecutive gold medal in Germany after ruling the NetAachen Domspringen in Aachen on Wednesday.

Obiena cleared 5.92 meters to emerge victorious in the 15-man field. Rival Sam Kendricks of the United States settled for silver after vaulting past 5.87 meters while French athlete Thibaut Collet bagged the bronze with 5.82m-finish.

5.92m was the same mark Obiena cleared three days ago when he reigned supreme in the ISTAF Berlin outdoor pole vault event also in Germany.

His back-to-back gold medals made up for an early exit in the Zurich leg of the Diamond League to finish last.
