Chess wins 3 gold medals for Philippines in Asian Para Games

The Philippine para chess team won three gold medals in the 4th Asian Para Games on Thursday in Hangzhou, China.

Menandro Redor won the gold medal in the men's individual standard VI-B2, while Cheyzer Mendoza ruled the women's individual standard PI. 

Redor, along with Darry Bernardo and Arman Subaste, emerged victorious in the men's standard VI-B2.

Aside from the gold medals, the chess team also had silver medal finishes from Henry Roger Lopez, Sander Severino and Jasper Rom in the men's team standard PI, while Lopez had a silver in men's individual standard PI.

The Philippines also had bronze medals from Severino in the men's individual standard PI and the team of Cheyzer Mendoza, Cheryl Angot, and Jean-lee Nacita in the women's standard PI.

As of writing, the Philippines has four golds, three silvers, and four bronzes for a total of 11 medals in the Asian Para Games.
