Philippine Taekwondo Association initiates primary probe on sparring incident

The Philippine Taekwondo Association released a statement on Wednesday regarding an incident involving a taekwondo practitioner.

While the PTA did not specify what incident it was pertaining to, the statement came a day after a report came out that a 17-year old yellow belter suffered injuries as her coach allegedly set her up to spar against a bigger and heavier male black belter.

The sports association said it prioritizes the safety and well-being of its students and coaches and has started a probe on what happened.

"The PTA has been notified about this incident and we have initiated our primary investigation, working closely with our PTA Officers and PTA Regional Directors," the organization said in a statement.

"We are working within our jurisdiction in determining the facts of the events to ensure accountability within our community," it added.

The PTA also encouraged the public to take precaution in their comments since a minor was involved in the incident.
