Why fun runs are important, according to SEA Games medalist Kim Mangrobang
Kim Mangrobang was among the top runners in the HOKA Trilogy Run Asia Leg 2 on Sunday as she ruled the female category of the 10KM run.
Mangrobang, a six-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, clocked in 40:44 minutes.
James Orduna topped the men's 10K race at 32:51, while national team member Richard Salano finished first in the 21K category with 1:13:53. Maricar Camacho ruled the women's 21K race with 1:32:57.
Mark Angelo Riagtan (17:31) and Silamie Gutang (21:27) topped the 5K races for the men's and women's category, respectively.
"As always, always ako nage-enjoy pag nagre-race sa Trilogy Run," Mangrobang said. "Ang dami kong name-meet na new friends, runners around Metro Manila and lagi ako na-e-enjoy."
(As always, I enjoy racing in the Trilogy Run. I meet new friends, runners around Metro Manila and I enjoy this.)
Mangrobang said fun runs like the one she joined are good for the health and she is happy that running is finding its way back to the people's list of activities.
"Ang dami nang runs ngayon and nakaktulong siya sa health natin, paano tayo nagiging healthy para sa atin rin 'yun. Nakakatuwa na maraming ganitong events for us."
(There are a lot of runs now and it helps our health, how we can have a healthy lifestyle which is also for us. It's good that there are a lot of events like this one.)
Coach Rio dela Cruz previously said running has matured in the country.
For Mangrobang, a factor in the resurgence of running is the community that is built.
"Dahil may ganitong events, nakakatulong talaga siya and running is more on community, 'pag nagra-run ka marami kang kakilala and nakakatuwa rin 'yung palagi kang kasama."
(Because of these events, it helps [in the resurgence of running] and running is more on community. If you run, you get to see people and it's fun when you do it with other people.)
Leg 3 of the Manila race will be held on August 4.
