The Philippines' first Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz celebrated the country's Independence Day anniversary by sharing her pride in donning the national colors.

In a post on Wednesday, Diaz on her social media said the Philippines is 'worth fighting and representing.'

"As a Philippine national athlete, it’s my pride and honor to give my best in training and competitions to represent the Philippines because you are worth fighting for and representing," Diaz wrote in the caption of her post.

Diaz will miss the 2024 Paris Olympics as Elreen Ando had a better performance in the Asian Weightlifting Championships which served as the qualifiers to the Summer Games.
