Joanie Delgaco on Paris Olympics experience: 'No regrets'
Filipino Olympian and rower Joanie Delgaco said her 2024 Paris Olympics stint was an experience to remember and she had no regrets about it.
Delgaco finished 20th overall in the women's single sculls event.
"Sobrang saya ko kasi first Olympics ko and wala akong pinagsisihan sa lahat ng laro ko doon," Delgaco said on Tuesday at the sidelines of a party for the Olympians in Hilton Manila.
"Marami akong natutuhan and nakita ko kung hanggang saan pa ako ngayon."
Delgaco had a total of five races in Paris, including the repechage where she finished first in her group to advance to the quarterfinals. However, she bowed out of contention as she finished last in the said round.
"Wala po akong pinagsisihan kahit ilang beses ako nag-race, kahit wala na sa podium, binibigay ko pa rin 'yung best ko palagi," she said.
Aside from the lessons she had from her race, Delgaco also opened up more because of her Paris stint.
"Ngayon, parang nakalabas ako sa comfort zone ko kasi dati introvert ako, hindi ako masyado nakikipag-usap. Ngayon parang mas nage-enjoy na ako, mas nakikihalubilo ako sa ibang tao."
For now, Delgaco will bring the lessons she learned from Paris to the national team and work for another Olympic stint in four years time.
