Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo was happy about the homecoming events for the Filipino athletes following the 2024 Paris Olympics, partly because it gave him a chance to catch up with fellow Olympians like pole vault star EJ Obiena.

Yulo, in an interview with Pia Arcangel on 24 Oras during his visit to GMA Network on Tuesday, shared that he was most excited to see Obiena given that they have few opportunities to see each other.

The two athletes have represented the Philippines in multiple competitions together such as the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Yulo added that he was proud of Obiena’s performance in Paris.

Obiena came just short of a medal, finishing fourth place in the men’s pole vault event in the Olympic athletics competitions.

Yulo added that he had tons of respect for every Filipino athlete that competed with him in Paris.
