SRG eliminates Team Spirit, nears M6 grand finals stage
KUALA LUMPUR — Home team Selangor Red Giants kept their golden road hopes alive, ousting Team Spirit during the M6 World Championship lower bracket semifinals, 3-0, on Saturday at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The reigning MPL Malaysia and Mid-Season Cup champions imposed their will right from the start to cruise to the clean victory. It now sets up a lower bracket finals showdown against Indonesia champion Team Liquid later at 7 p.m.
Jungler Sekys showed the way in the series opener, unleashing a spotless KDA on his Suyou with 10 kills and five assists as they finished off Team Spirit in just 13 minutes and 28 seconds.
Filipino import John "Innocent" Banal, who once set the record kill in m-series, then continued to dazzle with his comfort pick Moskov in Game 2 as he unloaded six kills and 15 assists.
Team Spirit's exit gave Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EEAC) its second straight fourth place finish in the M-series after Deus Vult, whose core now spearheads the squad, fell to Blacklist International in M5 lower bracket semis last year.
