Peter Groseclose, Kathleen Dubberstein named PHL flag bearers for Asian Winter Games

Speed skater Peter Groseclose and curling athlete Kathleen Dubberstein will lead the Philippine delegation in the opening ceremony of the 2025 Asian Winter Games as they were named as the country's flag bearers for Friday's event.

Groseclose will compete in the short track speed skating events, while Dubberstein is part of the women's curling team. She is also competing in the mixed doubles curling event with Marc Pfister where the pair won three straight matches against South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, and Qatar, before they fell short against China.

"What more could we ask for an inspiring start in the Philippines’ debut in curling in these games,” Philippine Olympic Committee president Bambol Tolentino said in a statement.

Groseclose, meanwhile, said he is ready to compete for the Philippines.

"I’m ready and excited. Practices have been going well and I think I’ll be able to give a performance I can be proud of," he said.

Groseclose and Dubberstein are among the 20-athlete delegation sent by the Philippines for the Asian Winter Games, along with figure skaters Paolo Borromeo, Sofia Frank, Cathryn Limketkai, and the duo of Isabella Gamez and Aleksandr Korovin, Francis Ceccarelli and Tallulah Proulx of alpine skiing, Laetaz Amihan Rabe of freestyle skiing, Adrian Tongko of snowboarding. The curling team, meanwhile, is composed of Kathleen and Leilani Dubberstein, Anne Bonache, Benjo Delarmente, Alan Frei, Christian Haller, Sheila Mariano, Enrico and Marc Pfister, and Jennifer Dela Fuente.
