Alex Eala rises to new career-high WTA ranking at no. 70
Alex Eala continued her impressive rise in the professional tennis scene, achieving a new career-high by reaching No. 70 in the latest WTA rankings.
The Filipina tennis sensation, who made a historic semifinals appearance in the prestigious Miami Open a few weeks ago, jumped from no. 72 she achieved last April 14. She has also made a big leap after ending 2024 as the world no. 143.
The 19-year-old Eala is coming off a stint at the Madrid Open, where the Philippine bet fell prey to world no. 2 Iga Swiatek of Poland during their Round of 64 skirmish, 6-4, 4-6, 2-6, in Spain late last month.
The new rankings should be a huge boost for Eala, especially in her upcoming main draw campaign in Roland Garros later this month in Paris.
Aryna Sabalenka remained as the world's top tennis player while Swiatek and Coco Gauff are still at second and third places, respectively.
