In swimming, young tanker Sophia Rose Garra of NCR captured her fifth gold medal after ruling the elementary girls' 100m freestyle, clocking in one minute and 2.51 seconds to emerge victorious against 15 competitors.

Yesterday, the Malabon City pride also reigned supreme in 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 4x50 medley, and 200m individual medley. She is now tied with gymnast Arman Hernandez Jr. as the most bemedalled athletes so far.

Garra, though, can still go for two medals as she is set to see action tomorrow in two other events.

Like Garra, some athletes from track and field also managed to make splash at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium on the way to reaching the podium anew.

Mico Villaran added another gold to his collection after winning in the 400-meter hurdles, registering 48.10 seconds to win the top prize and erase a 15-year-old record of Patrick Unso, who posted 54.1 in 2010.

Incidentally, Villaran also broke Unso's previous mark when the young Bacolod ace ruled the 110m hurdles last Monday.

Runners Trixia Arellano, Cris Ivan Domingo, Jeralyn Rodriguez, and Pi Durden Forward Wangkay all ruled the 100m sprint to achieve double-gold feats as the quartet all dominated their respective 200m run events on Tuesday.

Iloilo bet Arellano clocked in 12.84 seconds in elementary girls division while NCR ace Domingo put together a 12.04-second outing in the elementary boys category. In secondary girls and boys, meanwhile, Rodriguez posted 12.05 seconds while Wangkay covered the race in 10.82 ticks.

In arnis, Shayne Mark Monreal of Region 10 and Airielle Ashley Lape of Region 13 both have four gold medals so far.

As of posting, National Capital Region still leads the medal tally with 62 gold medals, 34 silver, and 18 bronze while Region IV-A is still at second with 28 gold, 39 silver, and 24 bronze.
