Philippine tchoukball team captures two silver medals in Bangkok tournament
The Philippines seized a pair of second place finishes at the 8th Southeast Asia Tchoukball Championships 2025 in Bangkok last weekend.
The Philippine men's and women's teams both captured silver medals in the tournament as Singapore swept all gold medals in three divisions, including the boys division. Host Thailand, meanwhile, settled for bronze in the men's category while Singapore B took home the bronze in women's division.
Tchoukball, invented in the 1960s in Switzerland, is a team sport played by two teams of seven players each and combines elements of handball, volleyball, and squash. At each end of the court, a tilted tchoukball frame is found where players can bounce the ball to earn a point.
A sport event that promotes the reduction of risk of injuries, tchoukball is played without physical contact between the players.
The Philippine men's team is composed of Victor D'Lonsod, Gerard Trabasas, Neil Secondes, Christopher Flores, James Jamelo, Josiah Su, Herbert Aujero, Judel Lacson, Jem Ho, Jet Ho, and Cedric Chua.
Bannering the women's team are Aleshanee Despojo, Nadine Crisostomo, Marie Therese Espuerta, Jasmine Juesna, Patricia Jurilla, Sherey Baltazar, Jurize Jamelo, Jazel Delos Reyes, Trixie Baclaan, and Charisse Moreno.
