Team Liquid dethrones SRG to capture coveted MSC crown
After three years, the MSC crown is back in the Philippines.
Team Liquid Philippines overcame a sluggish start and roared back with authority, dismantling defending champion SRG of Malaysia with a 4-1 victory to rule the 2025 MLBB Mid-Season Cup on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Cavalry stumbled with a lethargic Game 1 loss but quickly found their rhythm, dominating the next four games to complete a title sweep and deliver the Philippines’ first MSC crown since 2022.
That Game 1 encounter saw the Malaysian champions punish the Filipinos with 19 kills against the latter's five as roamer YumS starred on an unexpected Grock pick that steered SRG to a dominant opener.
However, the Cavalry didn't cower.
Gold laner Kiel "Oheb" Soriano stepped up big time in Games 2 and 3, both of which saw him bag the MVP honors after impressive outings on his Harith and Moskov, respectively.
Oheb's masterful use of Moskov in Game 3 allowed Team Liquid to push at the top lane, unleashing a triple kill against KRAMM (Phoveus), YumS (Kalea), and Stormie (Pharsa) to complete the wipeout as they zoomed to a 2-1 series lead.
Team Liquid took full control in Game 4, with jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno and Oheb forming a deadly one-two punch on their Hayabusa and Claude combo.
The duo dismantled SRG in just ten minutes, as the defending champs managed only two kills in the lopsided loss that put the Filipinos at match point.
Team Liquid made sure to finish it off with Oheb (Granger) launching a double kill late in Game 5 before he was taken down by Kramm (Arlott) during a crucial team skirmish at the 15th minute mark.
Even with their gold laner down, Team Liquid held their ground as roamer Jaypee "Jaypee" Dela Cruz and KarlTzy on Baxia teamed up to pick off Innocent's Moskov and Kramm, paving the way to victory.
The victory made Team Liquid the first MLBB team to win all the major tournaments including the M-series and MPL. It also allowed the Philippines to take home the MSC title that had eluded the country for the past two editions.
