Hidilyn Diaz denies video claiming she endorses gambling: 'This is fake'

Weightlifter and Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz debunked a fake video where she seemed to endorse online gambling.

A social media page named MAO8 posted a fake video made to resemble a video report by GMA Integrated News with Diaz. In the manipulated video, instructions to download a gambling app were given by a voice pretending to be Diaz'.

Diaz made her own post calling this video fake on Tuesday.

"This is fake & made by AI. I don’t endorse gambling," Diaz said in her post.

Diaz also asked for help to report what she called “misleading content”.

The manipulated video posted by MAO8 looked like it was based on a video of GMA Integrated News reporter Bea Micaller that was posted by the GMA News social media page on May 25. In this original report, Diaz talked to the press about her plans for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, not online gambling.

The public is advised to be cautious about fake or manipulated videos, including those made through artificial intelligence.

The public is also warned against posts posing as GMA’s digital assets but are posted on accounts that are not the official accounts of the network.
