Alex Eala vows to come back stronger after historic US Open stint
Alex Eala vowed to come back stronger after her historic run at the 2025 US Open.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, Eala shared that this year’s tournament was a different kind of experience.
“US Open ’25, what an experience,” she wrote in the caption of her post.
“I’ve never in my life felt so loved on a tennis court, and for that, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
Eala said she had hoped to go further in the tournament, but “it wasn’t meant to be.”
“I’ll be back stronger, but for now, it’s back to work! Salamat, New York.”
Eala made history early in the tournament by defeating Clara Tauson of Denmark, becoming the first Filipino to win a Grand Slam main draw match.
However, her campaign came to an end in the second round, where she fell to Cristina Bucsa of Spain.
