Twisted Minds outlast Smart Omega, surge to surprise 3-0 start in MPL PH Season 16
The plot twist continues for the revamped Twisted Minds after surviving Smart Omega, 2-1, to remain unscathed in the MPL Philippine Season 16 on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel.
Twisted Minds, rebuilt around former ONIC x Nine Lives standouts, shook off a Game 2 stumble to rally past Smart Omega and stay unbeaten at 3-0. Omega, meanwhile, fell to 1-2 as Salic "Hadji" Imam came up short against his former squad.
Twisted Minds and Smart Omega, two of the bottom three teams last season, figured in a lord dance late in Game 2 with jungler Dean "Raizen" Sumagui (Lancelot) unleashing a perfect retribution play to secure the objective.
Hadji then completed a maniac play on his Kagura pick, giving his team the chance to secure the base and force a decisive Game 3 against a red-hot Twisted Minds.
But Twisted Minds, which was coming off a pair of victories over Team Falcons and AP. Bren last week, left no room for complacency in the clincher with midlaner Miguel "Sionnn" Alcantara (Kagura) and gold laner Mico "Nosia" Capil (Beatrix) fronting their early 6-1 kill spread en route to the victory.
Exp laner Lance "Lansu" Misa copped the MVP honors after a spotless 1/0/7 KDA on the Uranus.
Earlier, TNC pulled off a stunning 2-0 upset against Team Falcons to barge into the win column after going winless in Week 1. TNC improved to 1-2 as powerhouse Team Falcons dropped to 1-2.
Exp laner Frediemar "3Mar" Serafico in Game 2 after unloading four kills and nine assists on Cici while veteran roamer Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog starred on Grock with seven assists.
