Light shines as Aurora sweeps TNC for top spot in MPL PH Season 16

MPL PH S16: Aurora Gaming esports

Dylan "Light" Catipon proved to be the guiding light as Aurora made quick work of TNC Pro Team, 2-0, to continue their surge in the MPL Philippines Season 16 on Sunday at the Green Sun Hotel.

The veteran roamer flaunted his decisive Iron Hooks on his Franco in Game 1 before anchoring team fights with the Badang pick in Game 2 as Aurora claimed their fourth straight win to take the top spot at 4-1.

TNC, meanwhile, dropped to a 2-3 card.

"Tinapangan ko lang 'yung loob ko, suggest ko kasi na goods sa pick pero depende pa rin talaga," Light said.

Light made a surprise Franco pick in Game 1, marking the tank hero’s first appearance this season and dismantling TNC's game plan.

During the final clash at TNC’s base, Light’s Bloody Hunt caught Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog’s Gatotkaca, before a well-timed hook on Lance “LanceCy” Cunanan’s Selena opened the way for Aurora’s tower lock and the victory.

Light, who's making a Philippine comeback after a one-season stint in Indonesia, had a 0/0/8 KDA to star in their dominant 9-0 Game 1 win.

Light switched to Badang in Game 2 as Aurora built an early lead over TNC. He dashed onto Justine “Zaida” Palma’s Hayabusa and Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales’ Claude, unleashing a flurry of punches that set up a three-man takedown.

With only Zaida left to defend, TNC could not hold the line as Aurora sealed the sweep.

In the first game, AP.Bren added to the growing woes of Team Falcons as the former pulled off a 2-1 reverse sweep behind jungler Jonathan James "JamesPangks" Mendoza.

JamesPangks unleashed four kills and five assists on Hayabusa in Game 2 before his Suyou torched the M5 world champions after he posted a flawless 7/0/5 KDA.

AP.Bren improved to 2-3, while Team Falcons dropped their fifth straight match to fall to 1-5 at the bottom of the standings.
