Alex Eala made history on Sunday by winning her first WTA 125 title, defeating Panna Udvardy of Hungary in the finals of the Guadalajara 125 Open with a score of 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 in Mexico.

Aside from gaining valuable lessons, experience, and her first trophy, Eala also earned prize money and ranking points from the victory.

According to a document uploaded on the WTA website, the winner of the Guadalajara 125 Open receives US$15,500 (around Php880,000) in prize money.

In addition to the prize money, Eala earned 125 ranking points, which pushed her up to no. 61 in the world rankings, 14 spots higher than her previous ranking of no. 75 last August 25.

Rankings are determined based on the results from a maximum of 18 tournaments for singles players and 12 for doubles, according to the WTA. Points, meanwhile, are awarded based on a player's progression in a tournament.

The Guadalajara 125 is a WTA 125 event, meaning a maximum of 125 points is awarded to the champion.

Eala is expected to head to Brazil this week for the Sao Paulo Open, a WTA 250 tournament.
