Carlos Baylon bags silver, Agatha Wong takes bronze at 2025 World Wushu Championships
Carlos Baylon clinched a silver medal, while Agatha Wong secured a bronze in the 2025 World Wushu Championships held in Brazil from September 1 to 7.
Baylon earned his silver in the men’s sanda 56kg event, while Wong finished third in the women's combined taijiquan and taijijian event.
Wong celebrated her achievement on social media.
“God did all the work. You were spectacular, Brazil,” she wrote in a post.
In addition to Wong, five other Filipino athletes also brought home bronze medals:
- Jennifer Kilapio (women’s sanda 52kg)
- Krizna Malecdan (women’s sanda 52kg)
- Xander Alipio (men’s sanda 65kg)
- Gideon Padua (men’s sanda 60kg)
- Russel Diaz (men’s sanda 52kg)
According to the Philippine Embassy in Brazil, the Philippines is set to host the World Wushu Championships in 2027.
