Philippine Tennis Center to rise in New Clark City
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has inked a memorandum of understanding with the Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA) for the development of the Philippine Tennis Center in the new Clark City in Tarlac.
Under the agreement, the BCDA said it has allocated some 10 hectares within New Clark City for a tennis center that adheres to international standards, in a bid to provide top-tier resources and boost grassroots development and youth training for tennis players.
The MOU was signed by BCDA president and chief executive officer Joshua Bingcang, and PHILTA secretary general and Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco last September 10, 2025.
“I have always believed that athletic excellence does not begin on the world stage. It begins in our communities. That’s why the BCDA is extremely proud and looking forward to this project,” Bingcang said in an emailed statement.
“This helps us ensure that every Filipino child with a dream of becoming a tennis player — regardless of where they come from — has the chance to pursue it,” he added.
The New Clark City is also home to the Athletics Stadium which has a 20,000-seating capacity with a nine-lane 400-meter track and field, and the Aquatics Center with a 10-lane competition pool, an eight-lane training pool, and a diving pool.
Under its mandate, the BCDA is tasked to help strengthen the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), while building cities. It also engaged in public-private partnerships to boost public infrastructure such as tollways, airports, seaports, and major real estate developments.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
