EJ Obiena, fellow elite vaulters spend offseason in Palawan
After a long season, EJ Obiena and some of the world’s top pole vaulters enjoyed a well-deserved break in Palawan.
American vaulter Austin Miller shared photos of their vacation on Wednesday.
Among those spotted in the photos were his teammate Matt Ludwig, Menno Vloon of the Netherlands, Oleg Zernikel of Germany, Thibaut Collet of France, and Ben Broeders of Belgium. Obiena was also seen in one of the pictures.
"Loving our time here in the Philippines! Thanks for all the hospitality so far," Miller wrote in the caption.
Obiena had previously mentioned the planned Palawan trip, expressing his excitement about finally taking some time off.
"I think it's going to be a good time. We’ll have a couple of parties and really celebrate this really, really long season," the Filipino Olympian said last Sunday after ruling the World Pole Vault Challenge where he cleared 5.80 meters.
