Alex Eala eyes Jingshan Open QF slot in match vs Japan's Yamaguchi

Alexandra “Alex” Eala will look to book a spot in the quarterfinals as she faces Japan’s Mei Yamaguchi in the Round of 16 of the Jingshan Tennis Open.

Eala and Yamaguchi are scheduled to face off on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

The Filipina tennis ace, who is also the tournament’s top seed, is the only player in the draw currently ranked inside the WTA top 100, sitting at No. 58.

Yamaguchi, meanwhile, is ranked No. 268, with a career-high of No. 242 achieved last May.

In the Round of 32, Eala advanced with a straight-sets victory over Belarus’ Aliona Falei, 6-3, 7-5.
