Alex Eala's Suzhou Open Round of 32 match suspended due to rain
By BEA MICALLER, GMA Integrated News
Alex Eala saw her Suzhou Open WTA 125 opening game against Katarzyna Kawa of Poland come to an abrupt halt after rain forced officials to suspend play on Monday in China.
The match, originally set for 10 a.m., was pushed back by two hours and finally got underway around noon.
The Filipina tennis ace, the fourth seed in the tournament, and her Polish foe were deadlocked at 2-all in the first set when the 19-year-old Eala took a 15-0 lead in in the fifth game, but the downpour forced officials to halt the match.
The organizers have yet to reschedule the game as of posting.
The Suzhou Open is Eala's second straight tournament in China following her semifinals exit at the Jingshan Open last week.
