Alex Eala falls to Tereza Valentova in Japan Women's Open
Alexandra "Alex" Eala fell to Tereza Valentova of Czechia, 6-1, 6-2, on Tuesday in the Round of 32 of the Japan Women's Open.
The 18-year-old Valentova dominated Eala, racing to a 4-0 lead in the first set before the Filipina tennis ace managed to get on the board.
In the second set, the Czech again jumped ahead 3-0. Eala responded by winning a game, but Valentova quickly took the next two before Eala briefly halted her momentum. Eventually, Valentova sealed the victory, extending her streak to three in the tournament after emerging victorious in the two qualifying matches.
Eala’s loss comes just days after she bowed out to Japan's Moyuka Uchijima in the first round of the Wuhan Open qualifiers on October 4.
Despite the back-to-back setbacks, Eala is expected to return to China for the Guangzhou Open next week.
