Alex Eala, Nadiia Kichenok beat Kudermetova-Rakhimova duo to book Guangzhou Open semis slot

Alexandra “Alex” Eala and Nadiia Kichenok advanced to the semifinals of the Guangzhou Open after defeating the Russian pair of Polina Kudermetova and Kamilla Rakhimova, 6-3, 7-5, in the quarterfinals on Friday in China.

Eala and Kichenok trailed 4-3 in the second set before tying the said frame.

Kudermetova and Rakhimova took the next game, but Eala and Kichenok equalized once again. From there, the Filipino-Ukrainian duo won the next two games to seal the victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Eala and Kichenok defeated the pair of Emily Appleton and Qianhui Tang in the Round of 16, 6-4, 6-2.
