Karl Eldrew Yulo qualifies in individual all-around, three apparatus finals of Gymnastics Junior World Championships
Filipino gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo, the brother of Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, has qualified for the individual all-around and three apparatus finals of the 3rd Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships being held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
During the qualifiers on Thursday, Eldrew advanced to the individual all-around after scoring a total of 78.332 points across all apparatuses, finishing 15th overall.
He also qualified for the floor exercise, vault, and horizontal bar finals.
In the floor exercise, Karl Eldrew finished with a score of 14.233, placing second behind Arsenii Dukhno, who scored 14.500.
In vault, the younger Yulo scored 13.750 to place fifth, while he finished sixth in the horizontal bar with a score of 13.700.
“Natupad ang isa ko pang wish but my job’s not finished. Gagalingan ko pa and ibibigay ko ang lahat ng best ko,” Karl Eldrew said.
The younger Yulo also competed in front of his family, including Carlos, who praised his performance.
“Super nakaka-proud, especially sa high bar, floor din, ang ganda ng pinakita niya. Super nakaka-proud kasi nakita ko ang practice niya, talagang pinaghirapan niya ‘yun and makapasok sa ganoong finals,” Carlos said.
“Sobrang laking bagay po noon para sa kanya na ma-experience ‘yun.”
The individual all-around finals will be held on Saturday, while the floor exercise finals are scheduled for Sunday. The vault and horizontal bar finals will take place on Monday.
