ONE Friday Fights 134: Islay Bomogao stays unbeaten with round two stoppage

Filipina striker Islay Erika Bomogao stayed undefeated, notching her fourth straight win with a dominant performance against Thai newcomer Ploychompoo PU Phabai at ONE Friday Fights 134 on November 21 at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

Bomogao closed the show just 47 seconds into round two.

After finding her rhythm in the opening frame, she came out firing, overwhelming her opponent with a furious barrage of strikes.

“I’m feeling incredible. Honestly, I didn’t expect to finish it that early, but I’m glad I did,” the 25-year-old atomweight said in her post-fight interview.

The Baguio City native’s striking advantage was clear from the start. She gave Ploychompoo a harsh welcome in the first round, dropping her with a clean right hand that landed flush on the Thai’s chin.

“Boxing is definitely something that we’ve always been working on. And I think we Filipinos are always blessed with hands, right?” Bomogao said of her handiwork.

With her emphatic finish, Bomogao earned a THB 350,000 performance bonus or roughly more than PHP 630,000.
