Philippine Women’s Open officially part of WTA 125 calendar for 2026

The Philippine Women’s Open is now officially part of the WTA 125 calendar, as listed on the WTA website.

The tournament will be held from January 26 to 31 in Manila, as previously eyed by the Philippine Sports Commission.

A total prize purse of $115,000 has been committed for the event.

Thirty-two players will compete in the singles draw, while 16 pairs will participate in the doubles draw.

The tournament coincides with the Australian Open, which runs from January 18 to February 1.

What is a WTA 125 tournament?

According to the WTA website, the WTA 125 series, which includes the likes of Guadalajara 125, Jingshan Tennis Open, and the Suzhou WTA 125, "offers both established WTA players and talented newcomers the ability to build their careers and progress up to the highest levels of the WTA Tour."

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala won her first WTA 125 title in Guadalajara last September.
