What will PH athletes wear in the 2025 SEA Games?

The Philippines will send around 1,600 athletes to the upcoming 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, and the country’s identity will be prominently showcased in their track suits and opening parade outfits.

For the Bangkok Games, the Philippine athletes will wear blue tracksuits featuring icons such as Taal Volcano and the coconut tree.

“We need an identity, one that also depicts the beautiful spots in our country—for tourism purposes, too,” POC president Abraham Tolentino said in a statement.

“Finally, we have one, and everyone wants at least one.”

The design was created by the sports brand PEAK.

It was first used during the training camp for the Paris Olympics last year and was also worn in the recent World Games and Asian Youth Games.

“This will be the identity of Philippine sports—only the event patch will be changed—and of course, the POC and PSC [Philippine Sports Commission] logos will always be there,” Tolentino said.

Meanwhile, Avel Bacudio on Tuesday released photos of another outfit that the Philippine team will wear for the opening ceremony of the biennial meet.

Entitled Laro ng Lahi, Bacudio said in a Facebook post that the barong is made of abaca, pineapple, bamboo, banana, and water lily fibers, while the pants are made from trambia.

“Muli nating balikan ang laro ng mga nakaraang panahon, at muling ipakilala sa ating mga bagong henerasyon, kasabay ng pagkilala sa ating mga manghahabi, na tungkulin nating ipagpatuloy at alagaan ang kultura at sining upang mahalin, alagaan ng mga susunod na henerasyon,” Bacudio wrote in the post’s caption.

The said outfit was also shown during the Athletes' Sendoff ceremony last Friday.

The SEA Games will run from December 9 to 20.
