Alex Eala, Alas Pilipinas squads are dazzling ahead of 33rd SEA Games Opening Ceremonies
The Philippines’ largest contingent yet is ready to make its mark as the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games officially open later tonight, and the spotlight is already on standout stars like Alex Eala and the Alas Pilipinas volleyball squads.
Eala, one of the two flag bearers alongside volleyball ace Bryan Bagunas, is already turning heads in her barong on the eve of the biennial meet, ready to showcase her skills against Southeast Asia’s finest.
Aside from the world no. 52 Eala, also set to join the parade are the Alas Pilipinas men's and women's teams.
Mainstay and veteran outside spiker Bagunas alongside Marck Espejo, Lloyd Josafat, and Kim Malabunga are tipped to join the festivities as they look to continue what has been a memorable year so far for the club.
The Alas Men are coming off a historic run during the country's hosting of the FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship last September.
Meanwhile, the athletics team, led by pole vault ace EJ Obiena, is set to miss the opening ceremonies.
The 33rd SEA Games mark the biggest-ever Philippine delegation in history as the country brings in 1,600 contingent made up of players, coaches, and officials.
The Philippines finished fifth in the previous SEA Games edition in Cambodia, racking up 58 golds, 86 silvers, and 116 bronze medals.
