How much will SEA Games medalists receive as cash incentives from the government?

How much will Justin Kobe Macario and other SEA Games medalists receive as cash incentives from the government?

Justin Kobe Macario won the Philippines' first gold medal in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games after ruling the men's freestyle poomsae event on Wednesday in Thailand.

Before his victory, John Derick Farr secured a bronze medal in the men's mountain bike downhill event, giving the Philippines its first medal in this year’s biennial meet.

As mandated by law, Republic Act 10699, or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, awards cash incentives to athletes who win in international competitions.

For Southeast Asian Games medalists competing in individual sports, the cash rewards are:

  • Gold medal: P300,000
  • Silver medal: p150,000
  • Bronze medal: p60,000

For team events, the guidelines are as follows:

Teams with fewer than five participants: They will receive the same incentives as individual medalists, divided equally among team members.

Teams with more than five participants: Each member receives 25% of the incentive for individual medalists.

Coaches are also entitled to cash incentives.

A coach must have trained a national athlete for at least six months prior to the international event, and eligible coaches will receive 50% of the athlete’s cash incentive. If an athlete has multiple coaches, the amount is divided among them.
