PH wins gold in 2025 SEA Games baseball
The Philippines continued to flex its dominance after defeating Thailand, 5–3, on Friday in the baseball finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.
The victory completed the country’s sweep of the tournament after also beating all its opponents in the preliminary round: Indonesia (14–0), Singapore (17–3), Malaysia (21–0), Vietnam (20–1), Thailand (8–7), and Lao PDR (15–4).
This is the Philippines’ sixth gold in the ongoing biennial meet, following the victories of Justin Macario (taekwondo); the quartet of Kayla Sanchez, Xiandi Chua, Chloe Isleta, and Heather White (swimming); Kimberly Custodio (jiu-jitsu); Dean Roxas (jiu-jitsu); and Aleah Finnegan (gymnastics).
It also marks Philippine baseball’s third straight and fourth overall SEA Games gold in the five editions in which the sport has been contested, the lone exception being a silver-medal finish in the 2007 SEA Games.
