Hussein Loraña, Naomi Marjorie Cesar rule athletics' 800m events at 2025 SEA Games

Two athletics bets delivered gold medals for the Philippines in the 2025 SEA Games on Monday.
Hussein Loraña emerged victorious in the men's 800m event by crossing the finish line first with a time of 1:48.80, edging hometown bet Joshua Robert Atkinson of Thailand, who clocked in 1:49.24 to bag the silver.
Malaysia's Fazri Wan Zahari, meanwhile, settled for bronze with a time of 1:49.85.

The women's 800m also saw a Filipino athlete emerging on top after Naomi Marjorie Cesar claimed the gold while another Filipina runner in Bernalyn Bejoy seized the bronzefor a double podium finish for the Philippines.
