2025 SEA Games: Islay Bomogao takes down local bet to win muay thai gold
Islay Bomogao outlasted Thai fighter Arissara Noon-Eiad, 29-28, to rule the women's muay thai 45kg (pin weight) finals and claim her second medal at the 2025 SEA Games on Wednesday in Thailand.
Bomogao, one of the country's top muay thai players, was coming off a semifinals win against Mai Hoang Khanh of Vietnam, who forfeited the match after two rounds at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium yesterday.
In that match, Bomogao was holding a 20-18 before heading to the third round but the Vietnamese fighter's camp walked out of the venue after not agreeing with the scoring. Bomogao was later pronounced the winner to advance to the gold medal round.
The win helped Bomogao claim her second medal in the ongoing regional biennial event after seizing the bronze medal in the women’s wai kru on Tuesday.
