PSC says Rizal Memorial almost ready ahead of PH Women’s Open
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) said it is almost ready for the staging of the Philippine Women’s Open later this month, with the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex undergoing continuous rehabilitation and renovation works.
PSC chairman Patrick Gregorio said on Sunday that the country remains on track to host the WTA 125 event.
“Siguro around 80% [ready]. I visited it a while ago. Nandoon na ‘yung seats sa one part. They’ve installed all the lights, one court to go for the repainting. It will be beautiful,” Gregorio said.
“Hindi tayo mapapahiya na we’re hosting the WTA 125.”

The newly renovated courts will be tested on Monday as the country’s top female players compete for a wildcard slot in the tournament.
According to the Philippine Tennis Association, in a statement released by the PSC, the test event will help assess any technical adjustments needed for the playing surface to meet international standards.
Aside from Alex Eala, Tennielle Madis of M’lang, Cotabato was also granted a wildcard slot. However, Eala’s participation in the tournament will depend on her run at the Australian Open.
