Para swimmer Angel Otom clinches ASEAN Para Games gold

Decorated para swimmer Angel Otom added another medal to her collection, ruling the women’s 50m backstroke S4-S5 in the ASEAN Para Games on Wednesday in Thailand.  

The 22-year-old para athlete clocked 47.29 seconds to clinch the country’s third gold medal so far.

Earlier, Otom’s fellow para swimmers in Gary Bejino and Ernie Gawilan won gold medals in men’s 400m freestyle and 400m freestyle S7, respectively.

In 2023, Otom captured four gold medals to become one of the country’s most bemedaled athlete in that year’s biennial meet.
