MLBB: Team Liquid sent home by Alter Ego as ‘Golden Road’ bid gets derailed

JAKARTA—No ‘Golden Road’. No all-Filipino finals.

Alter Ego just pulled off a major shocker, sending Team Liquid packing with a 3-2 victory during their M7 World Championship lower bracket semis showdown on Saturday.

The Indonesian club denied Team Liquid its ‘Golden Road’ dream while also preventing an all-Filipino finals with Aurora Gaming.

Aurora has already sealed its spot in the grand finals while Alter Ego will still have to go through Malaysian champion SRG in the lower bracket finals.

“We need to improve more, we need to put extra effort, and we need to adjust to the current meta,” Team Liquid head coach Rodel “Ar Sy” Cruz said.

Alter Ego’s jungler Yazukee kept surprising the Philippine champions throughout the best-of-five series, shining with 11 kills and 11 assists on Joy in Game 1 before dropping a spotless outing in Game 4.

Yazukee, this time using a Leomord pick, unloaded four kills and six assists that allowed the last Indonesian representative to force a 2-all deadlock.

Alter Ego made another bold move in Game 5, picking Uranus on the jungle that proved to be pivotal in the late game.

Team Liquid actually had an early lead with jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno securing the first Turle objective which was followed by a 3-0 lead in kill lead.

However, Yazukee secured the first Lord in the 12th minute that changed the course of the game as Hijumee (Zhuxi) picked off three Team Liquid heroes that punctuated it for the Indonesians.
