EJ Obiena bags bronze to open indoor season

Filipino Olympian and pole vaulter EJ Obiena opened his indoor season with a bronze medal at the ISTAF Indoor meet in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Obiena cleared 5.65 meters to place third, finishing behind Menno Vloon of the Netherlands (5.75) and Sam Kendricks of the United States (5.70).

This marked Obiena’s first competition of the year after winning his fourth Southeast Asian Games gold medal last December.

Adding a lighthearted touch, Obiena shared a video of his jump on social media, using Roselle Nava’s “Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita” as background music.
