Alex Eala excited, expects tough QF match vs Camila Osorio in Philippine Women's Open

Alexandra “Alex” Eala is looking forward to an exciting but challenging quarterfinal match against Colombia’s Camila Osorio at the Philippine Women’s Open on Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Osorio is currently ranked No. 84 in the world and reached a career-high No. 33 in 2022.

“I think the next match is definitely going to be difficult,” Eala said on Wednesday after her 6-4, 6-0 victory over Himeno Sakatsume. “She’s a very experienced and very good player, very skilled. And off the court, she’s such a sweet person, so I think it’s going to be a battle like every match.”

“And yeah, I’m excited also.”

The quarterfinal matchup will mark the first professional meeting between Eala and Osorio.

“You know, I'm going into it with the same motivation that I've been going into the past two matches. The same focus… Yeah, excited, motivated, and focused.”

Eala has been on a roll in Manila, defeating Alina Charaeva and Sakatsume to reach the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 event.
