Filipino prospects Moises Ilogon, Hero Manguray sweep bouts at ONE Friday Fights 141

Filipino fighters Moises Ilogon and Hero Manguray proved that the future of the country’s MMA scene is in capable hands following dominant performances at ONE Friday Fights 141 on February 6.

Both athletes delivered statement wins at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium, highlighting the rising tide of Philippine combat sports.

Ilogon made a triumphant return to ONE Championship’s strawweight division in the evening’s curtain-jerker. The 25-year-old Cagayan de Oro native found the finish in the second frame against Japan’s Masaki Suzuki. Ilogon transitioned to Suzuki’s back and locked in a tight rear-naked choke, forcing the tap-out.

The victory marked a second consecutive win for “The Lion King” in ONE Championship, improving his professional record to 5-1 with two finishes.

Later in the card, Manguray made a splashy promotional debut against Myke Ohura in a lightweight MMA showdown. The 23-year-old newcomer, who now boasts a perfect 4-0 record, showcased tremendous poise by withstanding an unorthodox early onslaught.

Ohura repeatedly utilized Imanari rolls and multiple submission attempts to catch the debutant off guard.

Once Manguray regained his footing, his superior striking shifted the tide heavily in his favor. A crisp one-two combination landed cleanly on Ohura’s face, prompting a desperate takedown attempt from the tiring Japanese fighter. Manguray defended the shot with ease and uncorked a vicious barrage of ground-and-pound to seal the first-round stoppage.
