What’s next in Alex Eala’s Middle East swing?
Alexandra “Alex” Eala continues her Middle East swing as she heads to Doha for the Qatar Open.
Eala wrapped up her Abu Dhabi Open campaign on Friday after she and Indonesian partner Janice Tjen bowed out in the doubles semifinals, falling to the powerhouse pair of Tereza Mihalikova (Slovakia) and Olivia Nicholls (Great Britain), 6-4, 6-2.
In singles action, Eala reached the quarterfinals before coming up short against Ekaterina Alexandrova.
At the Qatar Open, Eala will begin her campaign in the Round of 64, where she is set to face a qualifier to be determined on Saturday.
She is also listed as a qualifier for the Dubai Tennis Championships, scheduled from February 15 to 21.
Following her Middle East stint, Eala will kick off her Sunshine Swing, with the Indian Wells Open already listing her in the field.
During last month’s Australian swing, Eala reached the semifinals of the ASB Classic in New Zealand before competing in the Kooyong Classic exhibition tournament in Australia, where she was named as champion.
Her Australian Open campaign ended in the first round after a loss to Alycia Parks.
She then returned to Manila for the Philippine Women’s Open, where she reached the quarterfinals.
