EJ Obiena wins gold in Asian Indoor Athletics Championships
Olympian and pole vaulter EJ Obiena won the gold medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships after clearing 5.70 meters in the finals on Saturday in Tianjin, China.
Obiena needed just one attempt to clear the winning height, while silver medalist Li Chenyang failed all of his attempts at the same bar.
The Filipino ace then went for 5.80 meters but failed all three of his tries.
China’s Chen Yang settled for bronze after clearing 5.40 meters.

Obiena also holds the Asian indoor record of 5.93 meters, which he set in February 2024 at the ISTAF Indoor meet.
