Nova Esports repeats over Nongshim to rule Honor of Kings Invitational Season 4
JAKARTA—Different venue, same result.
Malaysia’s Nova Esports reasserted its mastery over South Koreans Nongshim RedForce, 4-0, to win it all in the Honor of Kings Invitational Season 4 on Sunday at the GBK Basketball Hall.
The one-sided victory allowed Nova Esports to claim back-to-back KIS titles after also beating the same team in Season 3 last year in Manila.
The win also served as a redemption of sorts for the Malaysian powerhouse, who fell to compatriot HomeBois in the HoK International Championship late last year.
Nova Esports was the same team that ousted Philippine club Blacklist International during their semifinals bout.
It was a title sweep for Nova Esports, going undefeated in the group stage with a clean 3-0 win-loss cars before sweeping Team HAQ in the quarterfinals with a dominant 4-0 victory.
They then pulled off a 4-1 triumph over Blacklist to arrange a finals rematch wih the Koreans.
In the grand finals, Nova Esports was in command early on after soaring to a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. But the Koreans showed what they’re capable of in Game 4, building a 7-0 kill spread lead in the first eight minutes.
But Nova had a crucial Tyrant steal at the 10:45 mark, which was followed by a massive quadra kill from bottom laner Muci (Flowborn).
An ace in the next two minutes allowed Nova Esports to complete the Game 4 comeback and the sweep victory.
