UAAP: Shaina Nitura, Frances Mordi power Adamson past UE for bounce-back win

Shaina Nitura and Frances Mordi led Adamson University past the University of the East, 25-15, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18, to return to the win column in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Nitura finished with 19 points, all from attacks, and added 13 digs despite being subbed out in the third set. Mordi also scored 19 points, while Felicity Sagaysay chipped in 10 as the Lady Falcons improved to 2-1.

“It was a very important win because our upcoming games are against strong schools, so we really needed this one. Even though we fell short in the third set, we regrouped and got the victory,” said Adamson head coach JP Yude.

Beatrice Anne Zamudio tallied 14 points, while Khy Cepada and Van Bangayan added 11 points apiece for UE, which remained winless through three games.
