Hadji out, Perkziva in as Smart Omega resets for MPL S17
Smart Omega is shaking things up by ushering in a new era in the upcoming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 17.
The longtime MLBB club recently announced the departure of veteran midlaner Salic "Hadji" Imam, ending his one-season stint as Smart Omega embarks on a fresh start in its bid to end its title drought.
Hadji's exit leaves four holdovers for Smart Omega in exp laner James “Jeymz” Gloria, jungler Dean “Raizen” Sumagui, gold laner Kenneth “Netskie” Barro, and sixth man Peuder, all of whom starred for Smart Omega in their 5-9 win-loss finish in Season 16.
This time, though, they gained a new weapon in their arsenal with the arrival of John “Perkziva” Sumawan and Karl “Minguin” Gallantes.
Perkziva was the former sixth man for the decorated club Team Liquid Philippines, joining the powerhouse organization during their title runs in Season 15 and 16 as well as in their M7 World Championship stint.
Previously a sixth man for the Cavalry, Perkziva now steps back into Smart Omega's Main Five crew.
Minguin, meanwhile, has a huge void to fill as he replaces Hadji in the midlane. The newcomer previously suited up for RRQ Kaito in the MDL Philippines.
