Artjoy Torregosa, Sonny Wagdos break national marathon records

The Philippines’ Artjoy Torregosa and Sonny Wagdos shattered national marathon records on Sunday at the Tokyo Marathon in Japan.

Torregosa clocked 2:33:54 to top the semi-elite category, surpassing the previous national record of 2:43:31 set by Mary Joy Tabal in May 2016.

Wagdos, meanwhile, finished in 2:14:37, breaking the long-standing mark of 2:18:44 established by his coach, Eduardo Buenavista, in 2004.

Richard Salano also delivered an impressive performance, clocking 2:15:08 — a time that was likewise faster than the previous national record.
