Alex Eala teams up anew with Iva Jovic in Indian Wells doubles
Alexandra "Alex" Eala will also see action in the doubles event of the Indian Wells Open, teaming up once more with American Iva Jovic in the draw.
Eala and Jovic previously partnered at the ASB Classic in New Zealand last January, where they reached the semifinals before bowing to Chinese duo Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan, 7-5, 6-3.
They open their campaign early Friday (Philippine time) against familiar foes Hailey Baptiste and Jelena Ostapenko in the Round of 32.
Meanwhile, Eala’s singles stint is set to begin Saturday after the Filipina world No. 32 received a first-round bye.
Prior to the Sunshine Swing, Eala impressed in the Middle East, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Abu Dhabi Open and the Dubai Tennis Championships. In the Qatar Open, however, she exited in the first round after a loss to Tereza Valentova.
